William Hill Casino Review

There are definately pros and cons to playing at William Hill Casino Club. I played back in 2005, closed my account after some issues and for the purpose of constructing the online casino reviews for this site, opened a new account and tried again. In the meantime, William Hill casino had changed software from the old Cryptologic platform - which was the one that gave me major issues back then - to Playtech. Both of these software providers have excellent games so, either way, William Hill picked well. But as you'll see later in this casino review I conducted for Online Casino UK, my opinion of their support and service is that they leave a lot to be desired, especially when compared to other Playtech casinos like the new SEGA Casino or the ever reliable Bet365.

William Hill Casino Games

The move to Playtech software was actually a decision wrapped up in a much bigger deal between William Hill and Playtech, and involved merging William Hill's online casino operations with two companies that frankly, I wouldn't even buy the Big Issue from. On the plus side, the Playtech casino games are excellent and steadily growing providing plenty of choice. There are some very good Blackjack, Roulette and card games, a decent choice of video poker games with multi-hand and bonus poker options, plus some top quality slots. Gladiator is my personal favourite.

The games choice isn't as varied as on the Microgaming platform that online casinos such as 32Red Casino use, but it is very good and you'll find pretty much everything you need. In fact, the Playetch software itself is marginally easier to use in my opinion and it's definitely quicker to install. Some of the games at William Hill casino are also available as Flash instant-play games.

Support & Service

This is where things start to get a bit dicey. There is no doubt that the William Hill brand name is highly regarded and their sports betting operation is right up there with the best. However, ever since signing up for an online casino account a few years ago there was always a nagging doubt that William Hill saw online casinos as something they "ought" to have rather than something they really wanted to own. Competing on the same casino software platform as people like Mansion casino and the aforemetioned Bet365, and aiming at the same market as Ladbrokes casino, you'd expect a little more attention might be paid to service. Support was slow, almost non-existant in fact, not very helpful and you were more likely to see a rat run across the screen than get a casino promotion.

Fast forward 4 years and you would have expected things to change. And they certainly have. William Hill's Support is much quicker to respond and bonuses are more forthcoming, however the way this is managed feels very pushy. From nagging pop-ups when you are playing to to much slower payouts and 48 hour reverse pending periods, it smells of a culture shift and not one that I personally find myself very comfortable with. The emphasis is always on getting you to deposit more.

Conclusion

There can be no doubt that William Hill casino is a top brand. Your money is as safe here as any bookmaker and the games are very fair - in fact many have better odds than in land based casinos. If you want bonuses, don't mind a stiff wagering requirement and pushy support staff then William Hill casino is a good choice. I have to say that as online casinos using Playtech software go there is definite room for improvement at William Hill casino.
